Reviews for Roland SRX10 Big Brass Ensemble Expansion Board
Feature: You get very little for the buck. Many sounds are repetitive. I enjoyed no more than a dozen patches. There are no Rhythm sets, as could be imagined, and there are 100 patches total.
Quality: Roland is superb when it comes to durability. I've been using Roland products for ten years, and I've never had to call them once or return a purchase. It goes without saying: Where and who you buy from are important consumer considerations.
Value: I've already discussed this.
Desirability: I don't feel this applies. A product is nothing if it does not function adequately and responsively. I could care less what a product looks like. The questions are: Does it work, and does it work well beyond my expectations?
Sound: The sound quality of this board is not worth the purchase. I hate to say that because I am a HUGE Roland fan and have quite a bit of Roland synth–based gear. I notice some of the patches can either be found on the SRJV Orchestra I and II boards and Sessions board or have been slightly modified to try and add "breathing" nuances. You're better off buying either the aforementioned boards or the SRX Complete Orchestra board.
Support: Never had to deal with them, so they must be alright...
Overall: I am selling it, actually.
