Reviews for Fender Texas Special Strat Pickups (Set Of 3) Sound: a lot of people turn their nose up at these pups because they're hotter than what they're used to and they can't seem to find that single coil sound. Truth is that you can get a very good classic strat sound out of the neck pickup...and the middle pup is reversed wound so combinations in the 4th and 2nd positions are noiseless. In my opinion, the 3rd, 2nd and 1st positions are hot enough to get a decent humbucking metal sound, too.
