Reviews for AKG K55 Headphones
Feature: It feels relatively comfortable. The design is similar to other AKG headphones (self-adjusting head band, one-sided cord, etc).
Quality: Average quality made in Chian. I don't like the fact the ear pads are permanently glued to the headphone (but it's not like I would want to get replacement pads anyway!)
Desirability: I don't want it!! Actually at the first sign of intermediate connection problem at the jack (the scratch noise, off and on connection), I threw it away, even though the rest of the phones were fine. I have no regrets. Normally, I would just replace the phone jack with a new one. So I don't want it that much.
Sound: In short, the K-55 sounds pretty bad. I have a AKG K240M and have been very satisfied with it, so I thought I’d give K-55 a shot. It was a big mistake. The K-55s sound muddy and too boomy--very unpleasant. But they don’t cost that much, so I guess I shouldn’t expect too much from them. I also use a K204S and a GRADO SR-60. They all sound good in different ways. I would rate those headphones (K204M, k204s, & SR-60) that I have around 8 or 9 while I’d rate the K-55 around 4.
